Dear friends,

The end of the year always seems to come faster than expected, yet we find ourselves preparing for the last CTIPP CAN call of 2024! So far, our four-month series has focused on developing trauma-informed approaches to advocacy, building an advocacy agenda, and sharing our stories for advocacy.

This month, we will bring all that together to set a blueprint and action plan for 2025.

Additionally, we know that the holiday season looks and feels different for many people.

For those who find this the most wonderful time of the year, we hope you cherish this time with loved ones. For those who find the holidays more painful than joyous, know that you are not alone, and we also hope that you have a good end to the year.

We are grateful for our growing network of activists and advocates and cannot wait to build this movement further in the year ahead. We look forward to seeing you on the 18th!

Sincerely,

The CTIPP Team

  • Our November 2024 CTIPP CAN walked through a storytelling framework as we prepare our 2025 advocacy efforts. Through networking and resource sharing, we discussed why effectively sharing stories is one of the most powerful advocacy tools, particularly when multiple people and organizations work together. We reviewed our advocacy targets to build momentum to create change in the year ahead and beyond.
  • Call for Breakout Session Proposals! Compassion in Action: Advancing Person-Centered, Trauma-Informed Care for Older Adults. The Jewish Federations' Center on Aging, Trauma, and Holocaust Survivor Care invites you to submit a breakout session proposal for their premier training event in June 2025. It is the only one in North America dedicated to innovations in aging and person-centered, trauma-informed (PCTI) services. Participants will connect with a vibrant community of hundreds of professionals, experts, community leaders, academic leaders, and policymakers in the aging space. Proposals are due before 11:59pm ET, Thursday, December 12, 2024.

  • Across the nation, Transformational Resilience Coordinating Networks (TRCNs) are developing and implementing community-led strategies that help people remain healthy and resilient as the climate-ecosystem-biodiversity (C-E-B) crisis escalates. Join our UN High Level Climate Champion “Race to Resilience” Initiative to build mental wellness and transformational resilience in your community.

  • Urge Congress to support the Community Mental Wellness and Resilience Act (S. 1452 and H.R. 3073), which would help communities proactively develop local strategies to build population-level resilience by planning for and responding to the mental health challenges caused by disasters and toxic stress.

  • Urge Congress to support the RISE from Trauma Act (S. 1426 and H.R. 4541), which would expand the trauma-informed workforce in schools, healthcare settings, social services, first responders, and the justice system and increase community resources to address the impact of trauma.

  • TOOLKIT: Free resources to help you urge Congress to support trauma-informed federal legislation.

  • Do you know someone who is already advocating for trauma-informed policies and practices or who would be an awesome addition to the movement? Encourage them to join CTIPP’s Community Advocacy Network today!
