With “back to school” season just around the corner, this month’s CTIPP CAN call will discuss how and why trauma-informed schools can help create healing spaces that engage their communities to counter the daily stresses that young people experience so that all students can reach their full potential.

  • Our latest podcast episode of Transform Trauma examines the interconnection between trauma-informed care (TIC) and ABDEIJ (accessibility, belonging, diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice). Guest Dr. Tonya Myles-Day, Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Buffalo, School of Social Work, discusses assessing these principles in various settings and why expanding beyond DEI is essential.
  • Last month’s CTIPP CAN call highlighted the Change Campaign, a multi-tiered initiative to create a sustainable planet and a better future for all. Founder Jesse Kohler (and CTIPP’s on-loan executive director) shared the work and lessons learned so far while promoting well-being throughout society.
  • We want to hear from you! Please take a moment and share your thoughts on how you communicate about your trauma-informed work amidst uncertainty at all levels of society, differing political/cultural ideologies amongst your targeted audiences, and everchanging advocacy/policymaking/philanthropic landscape.
  • Urge Congress to support the RISE from Trauma Act (S. 1426 and H.R. 4541) to expand the trauma-informed workforce in schools, healthcare settings, social services, first responders, and the justice system and increase community resources to address the impact of trauma.
  • Urge Congress to support the Community Mental Wellness and Resilience Act (S. 1452 and H.R. 3073) to help communities proactively develop local strategies that build population-level resilience by planning for and responding to the mental health challenges caused by disasters and toxic stress.
  • TOOLKIT: Free resources to help you urge Congress to support trauma-informed federal legislation.
