Happy Wednesday,

There are over 390,000 children and youth in foster care, and in 2021, 77% of eligible youth, ages 14–21 years old, left care without receiving the federally funded services necessary to prepare them for adulthood and independent living (childwelfare.gov).

In honor of May being National Foster Care Month, our May 2024 CTIPP CAN call will discuss the history of funding and its impact on child and family strengthening systems. Budget decisions impact systems, and they will discuss how funding can create support programs, resources, and services for children, teens, young adults, and families.

Our nation’s current systems are inefficient and riddled with historical legacies of structural racism and oppression. We aim to empower advocates and decision-makers to understand structural inequities to further promote healing and build a society that reduces trauma and its effects across the lifespan of our nation's young people and future generations.
